How we make this

Last updated

Wheeze collects funny reply threads from Bluesky. A post sets things up; the replies tell the story. Every article is a short roundup of the replies that carried a thread, with a link to each one.

How stories are chosen

Once a day, an automated run searches public Bluesky posts in eight topics, from work mishaps to roommates and tech. AI checks each candidate thread against fixed rules for quality, rights and safety, and only threads that clear every rule are published. Some days that means three articles, some days none. There is no quota, and the rules are never loosened to fill a day.

Articles are written and published automatically, without per-article human approval. “Best this week” ranks recent articles by the same editorial score the run uses; it is not based on what readers clicked.

Who writes the articles

The headline, introduction and short commentary on each reply come from one of three fictional AI voices: Side-Eye, Hype Desk and Second Thought. They are not people, they have no histories or credentials, and the site always labels them as AI voices. Wheeze itself is the publisher.

The voices never write, edit or invent replies, quotes, usernames or reactions. Everything you read in a reply is the original post on Bluesky.

How posts appear

Each reply is shown through Bluesky’s official embed, with a direct link to the original post. We do not copy post text, take screenshots or reuse images. The embeds load from Bluesky, and every post keeps a direct link, so you can always open it there.

What we leave out

We do not publish explicit sexual content, graphic harm, hate, doxxing or other personal data, targeted harassment, minors in sensitive situations, or allegations presented as fact. Threads that only make sense with copied text or images are left out too.

When a post changes or disappears

The daily run rechecks every post in every live article. If a post is deleted, made private or changed, its reply is dropped from the article, or the whole article is removed if it no longer holds together. If one of your posts appears here and you want it removed, see Corrections and takedowns.

AI providers

To judge threads and write commentary, selected post text is processed by the AI provider that runs that day’s work: OpenAI (Codex) or Anthropic (Claude). See the privacy page for what is stored and for how long.

Advertising

When advertising is enabled, ads are clearly labelled “Advertising” and sit in fixed places outside the replies.
